Why Should I Participate In The Challenge?
Many Parents Pay For
College Prep Services

According to the IECA, most independent consultants charge between $4,000 and $7,500 for their consulting package, and the mean hourly advising rate was $230.
Most Students Lack Access to Quality College Advising

Only 33% of U.S. high schools have a counselor focused exclusively on college advising, compared to 68% of private schools.
Some Parents Have Been Gaming The System For Years

A recent eight-year federal investigation led to 53 people being charged with conspiracy to influence undergraduate admissions. Parents paid over $25 million to a "college consultant" who generated fraudulent test scores and bribed university officials.
College Advising Has Demonstrated Impact on College Attendance

Students who receive college advising are 3.2 times more likely to attend college and 6.8 times more likely to complete the FAFSA.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who is the 30-Day College Readiness Challenge for?
The challenge was designed for families of students from the 9th to the 12th grade. The earlier in the process, the more time families have to implement the lessons. However, there is still immense value for the families of students going to college in 2025.
Why should I spend money on a College Readiness Challenge?
College is one of the most important (and expensive) decisions a family will make. College applications alone can cost hundreds of dollars, and some families are spending upwards of $100,000 on independent consultants. Positioning your student to be competitive at the right university for them has significant implications on their upward mobility and future income.
When does the challenge start?
The challenge opens on May 1st. However, the 30-day period begins on the day you enroll (i.e., it is not a fixed calendar schedule).
How much of a time commitment is it?
You should expect to spend around 4 hours per week. Except for the scheduled weekly live virtual check-ins (that are recorded), the challenge was designed to be completed on your own schedule.
